What is microneedling radiofrequency?
Microneedling radiofrequency (MNRF) is a very popular skin treatment. It combines two of the best skin technologies in one treatment -
1) Microneedling
2) Radiofrequency.
Similar to dermarolling or dermapen, microneedling elicits natural wound healing potential of our skin, generating for collagen and elastin. This increase in collagen translates to firmer skin, better texture, pore reduction and scar smoothing. Simultaneously, it also enhances penetration of vitamin and peptide cocktails applied during the treatment. Also, the state of the art technology, allows the dermatologist to adjust the length of the needle from 0.1mm to upto 3.5mm. This enables us to completely customise the treatment - area by area, scar by scar- to achieve the best possible results.
What is radiofrequency?
Radiofrequency is a form of energy or wave in the safe electromagnetic spectrum. When it comes in contact with skin tissue, it heats up the target tissue to a certain temperature. This thermal heating promotes repair mechanisms in the skin, leading to increased thickness of skin, less wrinkles, finer pores, smoother scars etc. Non-ablative radiofrequency can be directly delivered through intact skin with different types of treatments, however, the benefit of MNRF is that the RF energy is delivered directly through the needles into the depths of the skin where it is actually needed.
What is the downtime? Does it hurt?
To make your session comfortable, we apply an anaesthetic numbing cream an hour before. This makes the treatment almost painless. On certain areas, it is normal to experience a mild prick sensation.
There is mild swelling and redness all over the treated areas, which reduces over the first 6 to12 hours. One can resume normal daily activities the next day. It is best advisable to not be in prolonged and extreme sun in the first 3-4 days following your treatment.
There is no pain or discomfort after the session. Mild bruising is expected when a deeper treatment is performed for body on stretch marks. Body areas may take 7-10 days for complete recovery.
